Saturday 5.

As you can see there was not much left (not in the least surprised). Got a feeling the girls might ask for the rest of it for breakfast. We had it with a choice of creme fraiche or cream. Although it's only nine all the ladies have now gone upstairs to bed. Not surprising as three of them have been travelling for about twenty four hours (by train- sleeper- to Stockholm- then by 'bus to the airport, then by 'plane to Stanstead, then by car to our home in South Suffolk). I think it's now bedtime for me too. Goodnight all.

Nice to see Ruth and the girls with you, although the circumstances are not the happiest with the passing of Gran. The kids are so grown up! Enjoy your time together. Give my best to all.

By the way...the meal looks like something I would love.

Glad to hear the three girls are with you again - I feel such a wilting blossom when they have made such an epic journey and I must proffer my sincerest apologies again, but I will be unable to join you; so my last respects to Dorothy are paid in absentia. The spirit is champing at the bit to be with you all but the old tub won't answer the helm at the moment(to mix me metaphors). You are all in our thoughts ....

Thank you, Lori. Yes, the meal was great in a simple way. You really will have to come across the pond sometime and eat with us.

Thank you Carl, understood. Wish you could - you'd be far better at giving the eulogy than I shall. I remember your Jess saying something like if someone had Uncle Mike's facade, and her father's give o' the gab he'd be prime minister. Not that either of us would want that. We've always been a respectable family.

Well done Mike, I've never seen the words 'respectable' and 'Prime Minister' in the same paragraph before!

Jess was right about you being the eye-candy...
but I've never known you short of a credible answer and ready rhetoric...

I hope I can get well in time to eulogise you in due course... otherwise I shall have to 'listen' to you eulogising me!!!

PS I will not be taking bets on who goes first as collecting will be even harder than usual, whichever way it goes.

It just occured to me, Mike...
The girls epic journey - still a tough one - but they didn't use the long-boat this time... probably safer, you can't bring swords and shields on a plane!
