Monday 2.

Ann in the garden yesterday morning just before we walked to church. We both sang in the choir, and after the service our good friend Eileen asked us if we had anything booked for the afternoon. We hadn't, so Eileen said "Well come and have tea with me, and we'll play scrabble. Come early at three o'clock, and I'll ask Hilary to make up a four". We had three excellent games and a very pleasant tea. At tea Eileen apologised for the short notice and said "when you're just back from a holiday I always think things seem a little flat, and it's such a temptation to run yourself off your feet trying to catch up, so I thought a scrabble tea was in order". Walking home later we thought that was a very thoughtful thing for Eileen to have done. She is, as I said earlier, a good friend.
Goodnight all.

Sounds like my sort of afternoon, afternoon tea is a dying art sadly.

What a glamorous Gran you make Ann, beautiful outfit, elegantly worn if I may say so. Maggie x

In our town we are still quite keen on afternoon tea. It fits in very well with scrabble and bridge (which we don't play, I'm afraid -still, life's too short to try everything). We tend to meet at three p.m., play a game or so, then tea (usually sandwiches, Scones and a cake -not high tea, but, as you say, afternoon tea). Then, unless anyone has a pressing evening engagement, a further game. And home at 6.30 ish.
It's a nice convenient custom and suits us. Perhaps you should try and reintroduce it in the midlands, Maggie?
Love to you both, Mike and Ann.

Granny Annie - you look great, who is your stylist ???
Hope you are both well, would have called last night but slight crisis ( Guy falling from bicycle and bashing himself up a bit ) meant that I was a bit busy doing other things. Sorry, will try again tonight. Much love Sal
