Sunday.


Frog in our pond.
Came down this morning to a pleasant surprise. Ruth had made breakfast, and she had done a superb fry-up. Egg, bacon, mushrooms, fried bread, and bubble-and-squeak (will explain that last item on request). Yummy, as the grandchildren say. Poor Lizzy, who is on a diet, bravely declined to partake, but sat next me at the garden table, and by deep breathing tried to at least inhale the scent of this banquet. Church now. More later, perhaps (which means - if I have time. ) Have a good day. Regards, Mike.

Thank you Lori. Bubble and squeak is left over boiled vegetables,e.g potatoes, cabbage, carrots, etc., that are then chopped up, fried, and served as a side dish. The name is supposed to come from the sound that these vegetables make when being fried, but I think that's a bit imaginative.

Bubble & squeak is the only way to get most children to eat brussels-sprouts. The ideal frying temperature results in a thin layer of caramelized potato which should be stirred through the vegetable mix as you cook for a really healthy, tasty dish jumping with vitamins and nourishment.

Hi Carl. I must take issue with the statement that there is ANY way in which brussells sprouts can be made humanly edible. Ghastly things aren't fit food for man or beast, and certainly should never be allowed to spoil a good bubble and squeak.

Judging from the photo, if you were in France, frogs'legs may have been for petit dejeuner.
